how to bleed a clutch

i just got my new tranny and clutch in my car yester day i tryied to bleed it i had a sponge and realy really eay clutch peadle but it still drive and went thought the gears and 3rd is the only one that grinds ? is it becouse i need to bleed the clutch more i have a stage 1 xtd clutch if that maters

took me awhile to figure out how to bleed a clutch using a haynes book the first time, they don't explain it quite right.

open the relief, press the clutch in, close the relief, release the clutch (if i remember right). repeat that until air stops coming out.

it's definitely a 2 person procedure.

so just leave the nipple open then keep pressin the clutch in thell there is no air

no, you don't leave the relief open, otherwise you'll be sucking air back in, and loosing fluid. you have to close it everytime

This is how I have done it in the past
One person needs to be in the car and the other under the hood to open and close the bleader valve.
1. Pump the clutch a few times then hold it to the floor
2. Open the bleader valve
3. close valve
4. pull the pedal off the floor
5. repeat steps 1-4

do as atistang describes. you need 2 people to bleed the clutch. it is essentially the same procedure as bleeding the brakes. If you are still grinding, have you changed your shift linkage bushings and what condition is your rear motor mount in.

people tend to forget that as the mounts/bushings wear, there is more engine movement and trying to shift gears is like trying to poke a moving target with a stick.
