195/50/15
195= tire width 195mm wide
50= sidewall height. 50 = 50% of the tire width, in this case 97.5mm. so 97.5mm sidewall height
15= rim size 15 inches in diameter
a lower profile would be a lower sidewall percentage. 195/45 or 195/40, etc. 15 always stays the same since that's the size of your rim. unless you change the rim.
205/50/15 actually gives you a wider tire with a taller sidewall.
