i was wondering about the hx motor .. heard that if you use the head off the hx motor and put it on the y8 block .. you'll have to use the intake manifold off the y8 too .. this was somewhat like the d15 but better .. what would i have to worry about if i did do this swap.

the y5 and y8 IM's are the same. it just differs if one is auto vs manual.
No offense intended, but I couldn't make sense out of anything you said. HX, d15, y8, d17 '01 (which perhaps you meant, but didn't actually mention in your question) etc etc etc...
There would be no point at all in doing this, regardless of what year HX the head came from. I haven't diddled around with the D17 but looking at factory diagrams I'd say there's a pretty good chance that after you bolted it onto the block you might not get hardly any of the external parts on it that would work in a 2000-older Civic.
If you want to reduce your horsepower in your Y8 just get a d16y5 longblock and call it a day. Don't forget to wire in the EGR and a 5-wire O2 sensor.
