Massive oil loss. Why and Where???
Alright, I got over 200k on my D15 block, I just rebuilt the head, but I flushed the motor, put some 5w30 pennz and I burn all of the oil within 3 days. What pisses me off is that there is NO WHERE NEAR enough smoke coming out the pipe to justify the oil loss. WTF is going on. I get a puff/mini cloud of white/blue smoke out the back on hard acceleration, it does not smell like oil burn, but more like its running super rich. I have no drops in coolant level, my compression is fine (not perfect but for 200k all 4 cyl's are close across the board) I just replaced the PCV and it made a large difference in the amount of smoke, but Im lost. Also on top of the excessive oil loss, it burns up a ton of gas. Anyone got any insight?

The oil has got to be going somewhere. You sure you don't have a leaking seal or something like front/rear main seals? You say compression is good, so unlikely that its your rings. Only other place would be the filter or the head. Verify you don't have a leak at the filter. As for the head, could be a leaking cam seal or bad valve stem seal, etc.
The oil has to be getting burned somewhere. If it were leaking that fast, then you would surely have a puddle of oil everytime you parked, or would have oil smeared around the engine bay or under the car.

Thats the problem, It doesnt leak a drop. I put it up on my lift and there is oil on the block, but again, not enough to justify 3 quarts leaking out. The car smokes some on hard accel. but not enough, If it were burning that much oil, I would have a death cloud of smoke everytime I sat at a light or even got on the gas. It just does not make sense.
I think the neighborhood troll is coming over every couple days and draining my oil...

A compression test wont tell you if you have bad OIL ring, many techs unfortunately mis diagnose this... i think you have to do a leakdown test
some other problems can be a worn rod or crank bearings where there is too much oil clearance.
the only way to know for sure, is to do the leakdown test and take apart the engine.

and actually the leakdown test may only be for the compression rings, so it looks like you might have a bottom end to rebuild.

It might be shooting oil when your driving due to increased oil pressure and not leaking as much when the car is turned off

just buy a new motor if this gets to be too much of a headache and use this one for spare parts

yeah, well this motor is in my lady's daily driver. so she doesnt want me doing anything to it. Ive dealt with my fair share of oil problems, but this one has really got me. But Im beginning to wonder if food stamp is right. Screw it, I may just buy her a new car...

Get a can of engine degreaser... clean the block, bay, and pan.
Fill it up with oil...
Drive...
When oil level is down again, look for oil on the pan, block, engine bay...
Oil doesn't just disappear...

wow, thats alot of oil to just disappear...
id clean it all up and drive it and see where there are any leaks... either that, or try putting some UV reactive fluid in there and black lighting ur engine bay? might work, but idk if it would have a negative effect on ur oi.... maybe do it and drive for only like... 100 miles? cant hurt that bad...
\
also, u sure its not in ur coolant?
take pics... maybe u are just missing something and someone can find the problem?

The coolant is fine, not one leak and not one drop of oil in it. I put it on the lift again yesterday, there is oil on the back of the block and on the pan. I cleaned the living daylights out of it, drove it to el cajon came home. my oil light came on, and there is some on the pan, but it was not enough. I took it to a honda shop, but they are complete idiots. I payed them to do a diagnostic, and they told me they had no idea what was going on. I went and spoke with a friend of mine who helps me tune my D, and he has no idea. Its F*ucking ridiculous. screw it, she says she wants more power now after driving mine for a week. So I picked up an LS block and went over everything, looks to be in good shape so Im dropping that in for her this weekend. Should be fun. You can come watch, Bring your own popcorn though...
