Mini Me vs. ZC
hey all,
let me know what you think about this.. this guy at the local shop i go to is supposed to do a mini me for me and hes trying to persuade me to do a ZC swap instead. something seems weird to me about this... Is a mini me unreliable or something or is it to much hassle? From what i've read on some forums a mini me doesnt look to complicated and its pretty straight forward if you have all the right parts..i think that theyd proabably be in the same power class in terms of hp and tq right? What do you think about that?
depending on which head/block combo you go with compression is bumped up and wil net more power, also use a d16y8 headgasket for sligtly higher CR, will net you about 10:1 or 10.75:1 depending on combo as stated above.
for best results use 91 or 93 gas and get it dyno tuned!!
and yeas a mini-me is EASY as all hell its just a head swap, may require vtec wire depending on year and also different headbolts depending on combo.

a zc is a bit underrated tho its 120-130hp easy.

currently i have a d16y7 in my hatch and i do plan on throwing the y8 head on it.. i actually have a really good DIY that i searched and found. What kind of power gain would i be getting over the stock 106 of the hatch.. would it possibly get the same HP rating as the y8 motor? I have a few mods on the car already.. i have a catback 2.25" exhaust, custom cold air intake and a short throw. I am getting a 4-1 header and ceramic core cat on tuesday. Any opinons are only help to me.. thanks for replying!!

125 whp sounds pretty sweet...should i think about changing anything else besides what's recommended (gaskets, studs, timing belt etc..)? Should i look into a cam gear or a crank pulley?? i figure its probably easier to throw that on while the motor is half apart right? then that way i get tune it for a little bit more.. in your opinon though.. 2 ek civics.. one with a ZC and one with a mini me.. same skilled driver.. doing 60mph.. who would pull away full throttle??

ZC all the way I have a jdm zc single in a gutted 90 hatch Ive smoke a 99 gsr No Bs por guy was running rich I had to get out of the throttle the final drive helps out Balls to the walls!

how much do zc motors cost? and will my dx tranny work with the motor or do i have to get like an ex tranny?? a 90 hatch weighs what like low to mid 2000 lbs? i think my 99 weighs in some where around 2700lbs?? will it still do some damage?? for what my buddy is telling me i can pretty much use all the after market parts that i already have on my car like the header, full catback, and custom cold air... he says that they should bolt right up to the zc.. i hope hes right.. also.. since you have the zc.. what kinda cams and pistons are available for zc's?? im sure its a lot better than whats available for my y7.. you guys are helping a lot thanks so far!!!!
