oil filter rumor
i recently read somewhere that if you use a k-series or j-series oil filter on a d or b-series engine you get 10% better oil flow/pressure which in turns leads to a better vtec engagement, does anybody know if this is true?

you know they use the same filter right?
However in all fairness, the stock j/k series oil filter is a smaller filter than the stock b/d-series filter unless you use the newer plm-a02 filter's (which I don't). A smaller filter will give better oil pressure.

i used to work at a parts store and now in a shop. they had 2 separate oil filters, but both will fit a d or b series. i think S2000 uses different oil filter than the rest. Fram number is # PH3953A for d and b series, # PH7127 for k series and J series.
D/B/F and J/K use 2 different oil filters. The J/K/R are alot smaller and won't screw onto a D/B properly, and vice versa. I work at an oil changing place, I've had people bring their vehicles in with the wrong filters before. And I think most places around where I live should be sued, fined, and closed down for retards who can't do the proper oil change.
The J/K/R will screw onto the D/B/F, but not all the way, so it won't sit flush with the block. Big mess with a bunch of squirting and leaks. When they are touching the block, they'll leak, and often times the spindle will need to be replaced cause the oil filter won't come off.
The D/B/F won't fit the J/K/R cause they are too loose. I've seen a new guy put one on. When the car started, that thing went flying. But usually when that happens, its the person who gives the info on the car not knowing what motor they have. Which usually happens with accords, and the owner saying its a V6 before we look at the motor.
So I hope that helps out. As far as the f-series motors and the s2000, I can't quite remember if its different or not cause I've only done 1, and it was quite some time ago. But honda only uses 2 different filters that I know of. As far as the NSX, I have no clue cause I've never even seen one in person.
Well, can you feel the difference in your VTEC engagement?
VTEC is designed to work within a certain oil pressure range, if you are in that range with a stock filter, changing it isn't going to make VTEC "work better" or "engage smoother". VTEC is either on or off, and there is no transition between the 2. If you are making pressure in the activation range you will have VTEC. If you aren't making enough pressure to turn it on, you have bigger problems than a filter can solve.

your right, i read it somewhere but i dont feel any diff. im just desparate for an hidden hp. btw i read it at inlinefour.com
Unfortunately there's not much "hidden" hp in the D-series. It has lots of potential but you have to create it, its not just laying around! The D is relatively limited in all-motor form, most go boosted then you can get alot from it.
