tech wrench reverse dont work need help

i have a 93civic 4dr ex with d15b vtec and the orginal auto d16z6 tranny today i tried to put in reverse but it wouldny engage the car runs 1-4th gear fine is there a solenoid or sumwereto check if valve got stuck ????????????/help please thanks

this might sound really overly simple but did you try putting it into first then into reverse?

auto tranny not manual.

it may be that the solenoid is just gone bad and can't engauge. i've never owned an auto so, i can't say for certain what and where it could be exactly. but your on the right track

thanks any other info u got i had gone to honda tech they said there is no solenoid to replace that its hydro prob so im stuk buyn a new tranny next week 400 buks shipped with torque converter

there are solenoids in the tranny. they are little and tedious work to get to. take it to a tranny shop and see what they'd charge. it may save 400, and what kind of torque converter can you get with a tranny for 400?

I dunno Trany work on d series AUTO trannys isnt really worth it they are cheaper then labor and I would have told him "orange juice owns all" if you wouldnt have allready answered him

weel chk this out today i was pissed and was hauln butt and wen i got to my chiks house i was parin i put it into rev and pushed it bak it started makin noise like it wanted to engage i stopd it and put in park and tturned it off . 2 hours later i was leaving and it made hard kluck and engage and well it workin rite wat u think
