Mods: nos,skunk2 intake,full airmass exhaust with headers,short throw shifter,dropzone springs,ff7 wheels,front and rear lip jdm foglights with typeR grille,msd coil and distributor cap and ect.

serious idle problem HELP PLEASE!!!

i need help i have a 00 civic ex and here lately my check engine light has been comming on and when it does my rpm's and motor rev up and down real fast and my car starts to jerk around and does not want to go!!!! i had the light checked and its throwing the p1457 code {evap leak in fuel system) but i cant figure out whats wrong with it.... it did this a few months ago and i just reset the ECU and it quit, now when i do that it comes right back on within a few hours......PLEASE SOMONE HELP!!!!

based on what you described, i'd first look at the purge control solenoid for the p1457. see if it's stuck open.


the idle problem can be related. first diag the 1457 then see if the idle issue is gone. if it's not, start by checking the coolant level and verifing it's properly bled.
