So i recently replaced my exhaust with a hks high power catback and no name headers a friend gave me. at first i only hooked up one 02 sensor cause i didn't have wire to extend the other and it would rarely sputter as i was steady on the gas in first. I extended the second sensor today and reset my check engine light, the light hasn't turned on since but it seems as though it sputters more often now, and only does it in first unless i accelerate fast. i thought it was just doing it being as i only had one sensor it but now i have no idea why anyone know what my problem is? Any help or things to check would be appreciated, thanks.
i didnt eliminate the cat but replaced it with one from another model, and no i didnt reset the ecu i thought about trying that but i wanted to see what kinda of suggestions i got on here first, ill give that a try

Plugged cat - crossed wires on O2 - other unrelated issue that might be caused by lack of maintenance to your engine or even just as simple as you might have knocked somthing loose while you were under the hood. What did the check light tell you? You should ALWAYS check the code BEFORE erasing it. You never know what might be causing the problem.

I had the same thing happen to my eg. It was fouled plugs. it wont hurt to pull them and check them. Also inspect the wires. I had a broken plug wire that created a similar problem.
do a regular tune up, and reset your ecu by simply unplugging the battery for a few minutes, and to be sure that its reset, your gonna want to pull out the "memory fuse" while the battery's out. and that fuse is located in the under-hood fuse panel.

Pulling the 7.5 amp backup fuse does the same thing as pulling the cables off of the battery. The fuse is the power feed for the ECU when the Key is off. Double duty?
