Swap CVT for automatic transmission

I have a 96 civic with a different motor, d16y7 with a CVT transmission, didnt know when I bought it. i had a problem with it before so I have a new computer in it and it has been running great so I thought I had a normal automatic transmission. Lately the transmission has been feeling like its stumbling and I have been looking for replacements and found the transmission to be the CVT. I was wondering instead of getting a junk yeard CVT can I just purchase an automatic and install it? Im wondering will it bolt right in and will I have to re-wire anything for the computer since it has the CVT connecters? If an automatic does just swap right in is there a certain one I should be looking for?

The CVT tranny is mechanically superior to the standard automatic(most of the reason most new vehicles have them) Yes, you will need another computer for a different tranny. Your car an HF? (The only car that came with the CVT) If you have a Y7 in there you have better have been swapped with the VtecE head and the HF intake.

I have a 96 ex. Here is the original post about trying to find an ecu.

run a y7 on a y8 computer

I thought I had a normal automatic transmission in my car so I put a P2E-A72 ecu in. It works really well except for transmission lock-out, I start it from neutral.

If I have the right computer do I need to change the heads to put an automatic transmission in my car?

96 EX CAME WITH A NORMAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE ONLY CAR THAT DIDN'T WAS THE HF WHICH HAD THE CVT.

it only has one head bud.. i'm not 100%, but unless you switch to or from a vtec ecu, i wouldn't think you'd need to swap the head.
