i think a lot of my bad idling is coming from by throttle position sensor, i was going to replace it but it looks as if it is part of the entire throttle body.
97 civic ex d16y8
am i going to have to replace the entire throttle body to replace it or does it come off. im not really positve on it.
yeah, when it's fully warmed up, spray throttle cleaner at all vacuum lines, intake gasket, throttle body one section at a time, looking for a flare in rpm.
if you couldn't find a vacuum leak, do a search for idle problems.

Mods: built 2000 Integra Type R engine and tranny. Head is ported and polished, Crower rods, JE pistons Skunk2 stage 2 cams, REV Valves springs and retainers, skunk2 intake manifold, Act flywheel, RPS six puck sprung hub clutch, AEM cam gears, AEM fuel rail, STR cam seal, AEM V2 cold air intake, throttle body spacer, JDM ITR headers, APC catback exhaust
If youve done any messing around with the throttle body, you may need to adjust the tps, do a search for how to and if you can't find it let me know i'll get it for you

Mods: 13.74 @ 107 with traction 12's are inevitable...
1.) check your coolant to make sure it is full and if you've added any or have any leaks I would fix them and then bleed your coolant system...( your iacv low speed one on the bottom... I believe is controlled by coolant)
2.) if that doens't help or doesn't apply, go out under the hood and push the throttle (butterfly valve) closed see if the idle improves, if it does your throttle body needs taken off and cleaned, I've seen more than a few honda's with this very problem and people have tried changing everything from map sensors to intake manifolds, head gaskets, upper engine gaskets and valves only to find that the throttle body was dirty...
3.) also vacuum leaks as well like what has been said 2 times before. ( on your iacv there is a gold cover sometimes the gasket goes bad and they leak around there causing what you've described... - IATN )
good luck let us know what you find.

alright guys checked vaccum lines, all good. checked throttle body butterfly, as tight as tight could be, checked coolant its topped off nothing yet.
im unsure of adjusting the tps , help me out if you can
take a can of carb/brake clean, and start spraying around the intake manifold seals, t-body seal, vacuum hoses, basicly everything, and see if it affects the idle

ok, if all you checked is ok, i'd remove the black intake tubing and feel the lower port on the throttle body with your finger. it should have suction on a cold engine and no suction on a fully warmed up engine.
if your car is fully warmed up and you feel suction at that lower port, the fast idle valve is stuck open.

I have the same exact thing going down with my car. I have replaced the map sensor the IACV in fact this wekend I canged the manifold out for a skunk2 and I put new gaskets in as well, all lines are good no leaks in the vacuums, yet the idle still bounces go figure. I'll keep toyin with it, but I'm almost out of ideas.
