turbo install

i just got a turbo off ebay and i want to install it, and i was wondering if there are any tips that i need to know. How long does it take to install it (ill do it myself). And i know that i cant go over 200 hp on stock internals, what do i need to do to the car so i can go over 200hp on boost safely?

What exactly did you get, brand and components?

Also, I'm pretty sure you can push more than 200 hp from a B16 on stock internals as long as it's healthy.

if you bought an ssautochrome or xs power kit save yourself the time and dont install it. put it back on ebay and get your money back. it's going to take a shit on you sooner more likely than later.

The problem with those kits is that far too often, idiots purchase them and think they can install them correctly (mind you, I'm not saying that's what you are, this statement does not include you unless you make it include you) and give the kits a bad name. In general, the components the include are "good enough". Don't sweat the hp that you're going to be putting out, focus more on the gobs and gobs of information available on the stickies in the turbo forum. Find out exactly what kind of airflow your turbo is set to, set your wastegate to something low (like 3-5psi for starters) and make sure you have everything on correctly, a few times. Double and triple check everything. What are you using for a boost controller? Do you have an internal or external wastegate? What output does your turbo offer in cfm? Which b16 do you have? What cooling system are you using? How is your airflow to that cooling system? Have you upgraded your fuel delivery system at all (running lean because you're pumping more air into your engine than your fuel system can match is very, very bad)?
