Could you explain how the intercooler will take place of the Intake manifold or did i misunderstand you.

Yup. You misunderstood. The intake will basically become part of the intercooler piping.

You can see in the picture that the intake goes from the throttle body clear down into the intercooler, looks almost like a CAI, but it's not.

sweet, thanks man. im new to imports, i know about v8 and shit and muscle cars but i dont know a whole lot on how it works, i understand the theory of it and everything but not every little thing about it, thats why im going with a turbo kit like you suggested for newbies lol. thanks for the info, im glad i can still use an aftermarket intake and throttle body ported to 70mm (the Intake mani) you think that would help wit a turbo or should i save my money on having it ported to 70mm (the intake)

nice write up joe. just thought i would throw this picture in here to help out with any other questions and what not.
Also if you guys have access to a welder or know someone who does, they do make kits out there that come with the proper flanges and piping, all you need to do is weld them together. Sounds easy, but if you have never welded before and think you can do it, you probably can't. Here are some good places for these manifold kits:

www.bmcrace.com
hope i added something to teh thread

That is all covered in the turbo section on SHO.
This thread was made specifically for boosting a D-series engine, not the basics of turbo.

IM really glad i found this!... ive been wanting to get my car going on the track and in autocross... and every one has been telling me to get a DOHC!!! but i really want to keep the SOHC just so i can show the DOHC's up lol. and i just found thru a friend, budget auto wrecking i might be able to get a d16 and tranny out of an Si for 500 bucks, and a greddy turbo kit from him... he has it on a d16z6 motor, and is running 13.45's at 5pounds...
Im really stunned to hear that the d15 and d16 is a good motor.. i have heard nothing but BS from the DOHC boys, its good to hear my lil d15 is built like a tank, it explains why i havent blown her yet lol...

You're welcome.
As far as the right idea or not..is up to you.
Do you know your way around engines well? Can you provide almost constant maintenance ? There are a lot of questions you have to ask before you know if this is really something you want to step into.

well i geuss I worded it wrong. do you have to mod or change the ECU. Sorry. I know that injectors and fuel pump would be recomendeddue to the change in A/F ratio but i was more concerned in the computer.
