How much weight would i loose by removing all of the a/c components?? The compressor went bad and since the car is mostly for fun a dont need a/c, i completely gutted the trunk and would like to get about another 20-30lbs off the car.
Also if it would be worth removing the a/c would i have to get a new belt or is that all the belt drives??
I'd be surprised if the AC is even 35lbs. There isn't much to the system. The compressor is the heaviest component at about 15-20lbs. The fan, condensor, plumbing isn't much at all.

yeah id guess about the same, i think the biggest power gain you might see out of it is just cause there is no belt spinning that compressor, which even then the belt only really drags when the compressor is on, otherwise it has a magnetic clutch that is disengaged

I have a good friend that races and EK9 hatch with a B18 just strickly drag style so he removed the A/C. He noticed a GOOD jump off the line without having the excess tug from the accessory pulleys. He recently removed the Power Steering pump and belt to reduce sidesway when hitting top speeds! That took an extra 45lbs off the car also.
