y5 and z6

are there any differences between the d16z6 block and the d16y5. i have a y5 and want to replace the block with a z6 i have.

There aren't many significant differences but unless your Y5 block is blown or has problems and needs replacing there's no benefit to that. The one thing that might be an issue is if you are using a Y5 ecu, it's OBD2 and will be looking for a crank sensor which the Z6 doesn't have. You might be able to remedy that by swapping the OBD2 oil pump w/sensor and timing covers to the Z6 block.
