2.5" or 3" piping?

I plan on eventually running a Drag 3 Kit on my car, and it comes with a 2.5" downpipe. Should I go with a 3" exhaust, and have to deal with modifying my cat to get it to fit. Or should I go with a 2.5", which would just bolt right up? Is there really that big of a difference between the 2.5" and the 3"? If I went with the 2.5" I don't know what exhaust sysem i would go with, but I would go with the Thermal R&D if I went 3". I plan on increasing my boost on down the line, so I won't something that I won't have to change.

I have already decided on the Drag 3 kit, so don't tell to go with something else. I just want to know about the exhaust.

Thanks,
Rizzo
