Question 7psi Rumor!?!

I've just been hearing some sort of rumor that MOST honda motors can not safely run more than 7psi of boost due to floating cylinders? Is this true, or can you kids run more than 7psi on a semi stock motor with lower compression, etc etc...?

Just wondering... tired of rumors, so I thought I would come to the source.

your nissan friend,

OPIUM3

it depends what size engine it is and it depends on what kinda shape the engine is in.

im sure a stock honda engine could run 12 oe 13psi with the correct tuning. although im not sure how long the engine would be able to handle it

Cool.. So basically some normal kid with say some sort of turbo kit who doesn't really know that much about turbos probably wouldn't be running more than 7psi on a daily driven vehicle on the street?!? I ran into a JRSC GSR teg running 7psi. Made me wonder, and the rumor was that MOST kids daily driven on the street won't be running more than 7psi..

i guess it really depends on what engine. im sure that an LS engine could handle more than 7 psi, but some of the other engines like the GSR have higher compression and it probably isn't smart to run higher than 7 without proper tuning.

It isn't smart to run any amount of boost on any engine without proper tuning....
Most kids in this area just slap on the greddy kit and go, so most only run 5.5psi.Then there are the rare breed (including myself) who go custom and run more.
Most stock honda's can run 5-8psi with no problem and 9-12 with stand alone

ran 11 psi for days but a friend borrowed it a turned up tp 24 and blew it. I have seen compleatly stock ls with a cylinder brace run 20psi with good management, some guy name stupid or someting ran 20 psi on a stock ls. Tuneing is the key to any motor, it nice to see a nissan guy hear, so to be joining the nissan darkside.

there's no set safe psi, or general level people run at, everyone's different. even 5psi w/o proper tuning/install/parts can blow an engine.

so all these posts will be diffusing this rumor about 7psi then. Unfortunately I've also passed this rumor on to other people before I made this thread. But, if I remember correctly, I always started my sentence out by saying, "I heard". So hopefully it won't rebound in my face. But if/when it does, I can always say that the honda kids helped me see the light, and diffused such a rumor. Thanks for the help.
