Depends upon the size of your turbo and the size of your engine.

If you have a small TD04H-15G like the GReddy turbo kit on a D16, then you are best to stick with a smaller one like the Type 31 because there will be less pressure drop.

A bigger turbo on a more powerful turbo setup, like a T3T4 kit on a B18C, you are well off going for a larger intercooler because the setup will generate more heat along with the power.

Larger intercooler = more velocity drop.

but also keep in mind that a larger intercooler equals cooler air.

it should also depend on how much boost you are trying to run and remember that a smaller turbo will heat up the air more than a larger turbo boosting the same amount.

my personal experience is to run the largest intercooler that you can fit underneath your front bumper, the reason why is that the hp gained from the cooler intake will always out weigh the difference of a pressure drop across a intercooler, and besides pressure drop is nothing but a marketing term, you actually want pressure drop.
With pressure drop you know your intercooler is doing its job, when you cool a hot intake charge you are condensing air, ie pressure drop wich equals more hp because you have a cooler intake.
and if anyone tells you that it creates more lag, you can tell them to quit blowing smoke up your ass, the difference in time between a small mitsubishi intercooler and a huge intercooler, say 30x15x3 would only take 1/2 sec more to pressurize the intake system.

just thought I would shed alittle light on this subject.

Laters...
