is anyone elses t3/t4 laggy?

as i had posted i got my new turbo kit on and it is a bit laggy. i don,t see boost until 4-5000 rpm in first. also if i down gear to third it takes it a few seconds to boost. is this cause i need to tune it? i am gonna be tuned by boosted hybrid here in the next couple weeks. so i was wondering if this is common? and if not will the tune help it spool sooner? thanks.

bigger turbo!

As for the tune, That shouldnt cause it to be laggy. Once its spooled it will determine how its runs due to amount of fuel needed, but spooling it isnt nesesarily controled by that. Youll just have to get use to it. 3" exhaust, with a big turbo = some lag. Plus, you are running 5psi, so that will probably add to the effect of lag.

yea, since you switched to a bigger turbo, you are going to have some lag. using a 3" exhaust is going to decrease your lag time (due to decreased back pressure).

im sure it has at lot more up top than your previous turbo though. its always a give and take. (i prefer to have crazy top end at the expense of a little lag )

plus on only 5 lbs of boost the wastegate is like half open at 2 lbs...unless you have some sort of MBC...after you turn the boost up some it will help.

wastegate is creaping to 10 and 15psi sometimes. i know that should make alot of power but it doesn't feel like it is.

did you check for boost leaks?
and also describe what you mean by wastegate going to 10 and 15psi.

i never thought mine were laggy, but you are coming from a smaller turbo. It will feel laggy to you. Just wait till you see the power difference in the turbos though. youll dealwith the lag for the breathing room and top end you will have. I wouldnt boost yet though. your maps will run much leaner from a bigger turbo. Dont risk a blown motor.

Im running a T3-To4E 60 trim with a .63ar and i love it!! I dont get full boost until about 4k but it doesnt bother me a bit. Im comming from a straight t3 which gave me full boost at about 3k on the previous setup and this turbo is much better. The top end is crazy and i have 3" from downpipe back which helped a lot. At 5 psi that turbo is barely awake, i run anywhere from 7 to 15 psi tuned on hondata and i wouldnt have it any other way.

I run t3/t4b and it spools by 3400, doesnt bother me, I ran it only up to 7.5psi but damn past 4000 it pulls hard as hell....getting a t3..60trim/ t4 60-1 compressor I wonder how will that spool?

Man I can't wait till I spike up that boost to 15psi and see how it feels.....damn.....and I didn't even put the engine back together....still waiting on a flywheel....I hate down time....

Yeah I'm working on it every day after work for 4 hours......but I am also redoing a lot of body and inside work.....so to finish the engine I need 1 week, the arp bolts had a wrond thread on them I just got new ones today....free...straight from arp..... so tomorrow I will start on the engine finally.....and then my act 495tq pressure plate and extreme clutch will arrive next week so I should be good to go.......with the engine.... the inside is all done already (did a center console and e-brake conversion to a newer model) and I took my monster tach out(RICE)) so now only body work left for the 2nd and 3rd week...... too many things at once....I'll post some pictures tomorrow.... give everyone something to look at ... and thank you for all the good words guys, I really appreciate it.
