hey guys, here's the problem, wonder if u guys can help me
here's is what the electrician had to say:
it's getting really weak spark... sometimes the car will start and run fine.. but once it warms up, the spark gets really weak. i think he said it was weak inside the crank unit, so he might have to put a separate ignitor in it or make it direct fire with no ignitor.
he says sometimes it starts, sometimes doesnt.. when it does, sometimes it's fine... but then sometimes the spark gets weak once the car gets hot. he says it's very hard to find the problem since sometimes the car works, sometimes doesnt... he has had problems with my distributor before, and he did some rewiring on it before.
the car is a 93 turbo'd honda prelude with standalone ecu, 440 cc injectors... stock plug wires, ngk6 spark plugs, stock ignition.
1) any idea of what's going on and what needs to be done?
update: i just spoke to a honda specialist, he said that my car is rekowned for weak spark... going external for the coil and module may be a very good idea, as is going direct fire...
2) i'm thinking of upgrading the coil pack, but i heard MSD blaster coils are like very expensive... what other coils are available that do the job just as well and for much cheaper?
3) external for the module... i assume he means the ignitor module? what will this involve and the cost? does this require like an MSD 6 series kind of device or is that more of an amplifier?
THANKS GUYS
