apexi ws exhaust with greddy turbo

I've been in limbo as to which exhaust to get. I've got a d16y8 and I would like to get an exhaust before I get a turbo, but do not want to have to change the exhaust again after the turbo. I'm planning on getting the greddy kit and probably only boosting 6-7psi. I'm just trying to make the car more fun to drive as opposed to setting any land speed records.

I wanted to find out if anyone had any experience with the apexi world sport exhaust with a mild turbo setup. I'm thinking that with the 2" downpipe on the greddy kit that that 60mm apexi exhaust is more than adequate for the amount of boost that I plan to run.

Any input would be appreciated.

The World Sport is a chambered design exhaust( like factory, just bigger pipings), not something you would want for a turbo or performance. You need an exhaust with a straight-through muffler. Greddy SP is one.

The big reason that I've been looking at the apexi ws is because it is quiet. I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't like to hear a loud exhaust.

Any suggestions as to what may fit the bill? I was looking at the dc sports system a while back and also the dc sports twin canister system. However they claim that the dc sports tcs is only for the 99-00 EX/SI. I would think that it would also fit a 98EX, but I'm not sure.

im with you on that one kommon..im not gonna lie i used to like the "buzz-bomb" sound but it got annoying and plus five-o can hear you coming before they even see you.. I've got the Apexi-n1 (non-turbo application) on mine with the silencer on and its fairly quiet..i still want something with a more deeper mild tone though..close to stock but a nice deep "hum" to it...im trying to match the sound of that of a VW VR6 motor..

you could get a thermal turbo exhaust. i don't know how loud they are, but you can always have a shop add a resonator or silencer to it, but then i guess that kind of defeats the purpose of having bigger piping for your turbo

the apex ws won;t work well with exhaust. you'll need to have a 3" exhaust with a free-flowing muffler such as an apex n1 turbo model.

OK, but I'm still having trouble understanding why you would need such a large exhaust considering that the greddy only has a 2" downpipe...

Alright a quick run down of my take on all of this.

The Apexi N1 is loud! And the turbo version is only the muffler, you'd have to make custom piping.

Apexi WS, well, as said above, not straight through = no good.

As far as bolt ons go, the best one I find is the Greddy EVO. I did research on this for quite awhile before taking off my 5zigen fireball and replacing it with the Greddy EVO. the EVO goes from 60-70mm, that's 2.25 inches to 2.75 inches, close enough to 3 inches. Since you are boosting at low levels, you should be fine. If you go anymore than 2.25 inches at cat, you have to replace your stock cat also, it just won't bolt on. Most other bolt-on cat-backs are either straight through 2.25 or 2.25-> 2.5. So EVO is the best choice.

Now the best part, the EVO comes with a HUGE ASS canister than silences the exhaust like crazy, the only time I hear something is if I'm punching it past 5k rpm, and even then it's a deep groan.

Go with the EVO, sure it's a bit pricy. But it's well worth the money! The quality simply... perfection.
