Well, I can't figure this one out. I went with my buddy to pick up his GSR swapped hatch turbo. It's on a rich basemap for now, but nothing too crazy (lowest AFR is around 11:1 at its richest points).
Anyways, the acceleration is mostly smooth, and the car drives great for the most part. However, random times during acceleration, it feels like somebody is sticking a giant steel rod into the heart of the tranny and the car feels like it hit a brick wall. Of course, when you do stuff to the tranny to try and replicate the issue, it's fine. Just randomly the car makes a real bad noise at WOT, and you lose like 15mph instantly. Somebody offered a suggestion that it hit a really rich spot...but I'm clueless.
I thought it was either boost cut, or our tuner put a 4400rpm rev limit on it for now, but it was fine other times through those revs. Our tuner did a street tune on it after he put a basemap. Like I said, the AFRs across the board are borderline rich, so he shouldn't be blowing anything up, and it shouldn't be much more than 250whp (T3/T4 60 Trim at 6.5psi). I don't think my buddy floored it, but at least 3/4 or 7/8 throttle.
It did feel exactly like boost cut / modified rev limit....but it didn't happen everytime.
Base map is to be able to drive it from point A to B, not to be fooling around with. Get it street tuned first and let the tuner deal with it. I don't see why you are trouble shooting a base map, that probably has some serious holes in it.

Yep, as I stated in the middle of my mish-mash paragraph, it is street tuned already. His ECU had a basemap on it, and then our tuner street tuned it after he finished installing the turbo. He didn't need much of a street tune, as the basemap was a full tune for the same motor/same turbo/same boost...so it didn't take him long to dial in the AFR. It's hitting the dyno in the next couple days anyways to get the rest of the maps tuned.
So why didn't the tuner notice it? When I got my car street tuned we did WOT to redline pulls.

This is a new problem. I did get some more info on this. While backing out of the tuner's driveway, my buddy got stuck on an old steel post that was in the ground (like one of those fence posts that people cut away but leave the remains in the soil). He was backing out, and "something" underneath the car got stuck on this jagged post. As he tried to rock the vehicle back and forth to get over it, this post kept tugging on the car and wouldn't let go...until finally after a bunch of revving, the car became free.
He got under the car today, and said he believes it was just caught on the cat's bracketry....I'm trying to think of what the car may have been caught on that could have loosened something up....but I'm thinking the two don't have much to do with each other...
Anyways, we'll see if the same thing happens on the rollers. I've got my own 'lean' issues to figure out lol. Apparently by switching from a 2.75" AEM SRI to my Comptech Icebox, I sent my AFRs from 13.1-13.3 to hella lean at 14.5-15.1.
