alright ya'll, i need to know what ya'll think about this. i have a gsr, but right now i just wanna boost, but i really don't have the money to go out and buy my own kit, i was piecing one together, but didn't like doin it that way, so i sold everything for 1g. So now, im thinkin bout buyin a b20 and sell my gsr and use the money to buy a kit....what do ya'll think about this? are the b20's strong enough and please lemme know if u know someone that has the same setup (not b20/vtec), a straight b20 in an integra....or civic. Is there anything i will have to change to make the swap successful?
Everything is a direct bolt in. The B20 bottom end is very strong. My main consern would be the head. You might wanna do some more research on that head to see how well it flows. Also, consider the lower rev limit of the stock B20. Maybe consider making a CRVtec then turbo after you get more money. You should be able to pick up a B16 or B18C head for around $500. C1 or B16 is the way to go with turbo...

I've heard that the bottom ends are strong... I don't have personal experiance with the motor so I can't tell you first hand. Try posting up in the Hybrid forum are see what they say.

I read that you cannot use the head because it makes the intake manifold sit up too high or something like that, unless you run your car without a hood
If you just want to drop a straight up non-vtec in your car, just get a LS longblock...you can pick them up for next to nothing and they have a good turbo c/r to start with....st00pid had one with completly stock motor other than correct fuel/ignition tuning and a blockguard pushing 20psi (300hp@wheels) and running an 11 in the 1/4....just don't get "revhappy" with it and it will be fine.
The internals are plenty strong...it's all about correct tuning...

you can use a b20, the issue with the clearance is due to the intake manifold, being tall. you can solve this by just using a LS or aftermarket manifold like a skunk2. and the rods are pretty durable. same rods as the LS. Now the head is not weak, it's just not built to be revved high. As the motor makes peak power of 146 hp at 6200 rpms for the usdm b20Z.

It ran 11.8 in the 1/4 at the WIC in Houston.

lol 300 on 20 psi i got that on 7psi i have had my car up and running for about 7 months and have had no problems well a leaky oil pan gasket but that has nothing to do with the set up i would use a vtec head get a drag kit and have fun my turbo is a lil differnet then a drag but with the right tunner you can pull some good numbers out of low boost , my car is pretty heavy i have power doors on a 96 hb and leather interior and shit like that but we are putting the motor into a 92 hb full race car this week and going to see what 7 psi on a b20/vtec can do in a light car i will get back to you after this sat .....good luck with you set up man

Go for it, just do everything right and take your time doing it, know how to treat the engine, tune the hell out of it and BOOST
You'll have fun...
turbo20ek......yeah 300hp on a b20/vtec is great and all, but he just had a completly stock LS motor, no VTEC, no ITR head,
1.8L instead of 2.0L....the point was that the stock motor held 20psi, but I agree 300hp for 20psi isn't all that great.
