Talking ball bearing vs. precision

I am about to buy a turbo kit for my gsr del sol. the kit i am looking at is at importparts. I was originally going to get a turbonetics ball bearing turbo for its reliability and fast spool up time. but now i am not sure if its worth the extra money.

what is precisions bearing system? it says on there site 360 race bearing. what is that? I am now thinking of getting the sc50.

I also read somewhere that ball bearing turbos are harder to tune. is this true. I should have hondata soon.

thanx for any help or feedback.

i dont know what would make BB's more difficult to tune thats a strange comment. but i could be wrong.

Watch out for Turbonetics lately. they have been having alot of probs with the bearings that i have seen . alot of smoking issues.

I was look in to a ball bearing turbo as well. i was wondering if any one know how mutch faster that would spool up? it would be cool if u could elmiate the turbo lag. i dont want to let that v8 to get too far ahead before the boost kicks in

The ball bearing turbo will start to spool about 100 - 200 RPMs earlier, but where it gets the real advantage is how long it takes to get to full boost.

Standard T3/T04B
Spool Starts: 2800 - 3000 RPMS
Full Boost (10 PSI): 4200 - 4500 RPMs.

Ball Bearing T3/T04B
Spool Starts: 2600 - 2800 RPMS
Full Boost (10 PSI): 3200 - 3500 RPMs.

The ball bearing turbo still has enough air flow to keep pulling all of the way to redline.

P.S. Yes, Turbonetics had some trouble with their BB center sections. That has been addressed and a new order of BB center sections are being built into the turbo's that are being sent with their kits.

I do not know of any difference in tuning. the tuning procedure should be exactly the same... the only thing i can see (which is more a difference in the final tune rather than how you tune) is that you will need more fuel at earlier rpms to compensate for quicker spool.

i dont know, ball bearing turbos seem to be way too expensive than what they are worth.... maybe i just havnt found the right site yet.
