Yes I am canadian. Why were Si's only released here? Anyways I was told GS-R was faster then the LS engine. But then they said the LS engine is lower compression and can handle more boost. I'm a total newb to this whole import scene so can anyone confirm this?

si's were not available in the states between 96-98. if money is no issue, then get the b18c1 and build it for tons of boost.

Our Si is you SiR and your Si is our EX. Whoever you talking to stop asking them for advice. Compression is only part of the whole equation. The GS-R has a stronger bottom end despite the compression not to mention the head flows alot better. I'd only say go with the LS if money is an issue it's just outclassed.
LS is good to boost when your on a budget. But IMO i think the gsr is the best power plant for boost. Full Race turbo kit if you wanta see some crazy number + great quality.
Mods: swapped.. ummm everything.. turbo.. umm yeah its quick i guess..
best engine would be the one thats in there already, for the same price you can build it out and put spray on it and have an even more fast car than if u would swap an ls motor into it. go with a port and polish with a herad package and get some forged pistons and put either boost or spray on it and you would have a nice and faster car if u would just get a ls motor with 12psi, and it would be a little more original. good luck

The one in my engine is sohc non-vtec? Why would this be the best one to build? The Civic SI's are different in Canada. The one with 190hp is Civic SIR.

well just do a mini me swap put forged pistons in and give your head a port and polish a little cam , if u want an all the time power go turbo if you want somethin to have power for just drag racing then get some spray.. build your motor a little get a little turbo kit tune it and you'll have a pretty quick set up and it wont cost you as much as getting a swap for 4k and still be under 200hp
Mods: none yet. i got blackouts on my truck and a 4in lift

your si is sohc non vtec? you said money is no issue and this guy is telling you how to be cheap. well if you decide to be cheap than his setup would be descent, but seems your balling. you definatly need dohc vtec. im not going to act like i know comp ratios and shit so what motor you go with im not sure. if i had the money i would go with k series. i think youll get the horses you want out of it and they are pretty boost happy. fuck spray
