best tranny for LS turbo setup?

im going to be puttin a b18b1 (LS) into my crx and turbocharging it....i've heard conflicting stories about which tranny to use...some say that the LS tranny is just plain shit and i should not mess w/ it...some say i should use a b18c1 (GsR) tranny b/c it has better gear ratios for a turbo setup and others say that the b18c1 (GsR) ratio setup is not good for turbo...very confused, please help
(i will be boosting 8psi to start and gradually increasing as i do motor mods and tuning)

If your boosting you want the longer gears of the LS tranny.

for turbo ls setup with only 7psi, ls tranny should not be a prob, i have seen a ls vtec turbo with 11psi, using ls tranny,,,the only thing u need and he did was upgraded it with a LSD (limited slip differential). around $350-$400,,you should be good to go.

So you can stay in Boost longer right? Typical ricer mis-information.

Shorter gear ratios + lsd = Type-r tranny. If you have the funds, you will not regret it.

I have seen this question so many times its not even funny! i personally dont think long gears are good for anything, I dont care if you can "stay in boost longer" staying in boost isnt gonna do much if you dont have the gearing to accelerate the car.

But enough of that, IMO if you are building the car to be a 1/4 mile-street racing car then go with the GSR tranny without a doubt. The only way i would go with the LS tranny is if you are building the car to be some kind of a top speed car and you need the longer gears to get more MPH out of it.

Just my $.02

u want a b16 or gsr tranny. the longer the gears the more strain is put on the motor to turn the wheels for a longer duration vs shorter gears. the best option would be a b16 with an ls 5th gear for the highway
