Blown Engine Update

Ok Here goes,
I think that most of you are familiar with my story, if not heres the link to my blown engine post.

Oops, that was not supposed to happen :-(((

Well i went down the garage who is doing the work for me and i walked in and the pistons are there lying on the bench, I had a quick look and i though hmmmm, they dont seem to bad : picked one of them up and the Ringland just fell off   . Turns out that three pistons had broke in this way.......Gutted!!!

Well i phoned up Honda to see how much the stock pistons and rings would cost and they said £495 ($750ish).... ohh poo i thought. .

So i phoned the most helpfull guy that i have eva talked too (Alex from Jotech Motorsport (Texas), This guy knows what he is on about), and decided to get some low compression pistons, eagle rods and a missing link. so hopfully should be here (UK) in about 1 week.

I have come up with another theroy how my engine blew, see if you guys think that this may be the case.

When i was just out showing my mate what my car was like i accadently pressed the Mode button on my Field Vafc which set the vtec cross over point to 2000k rpm, i didnt notice i had did this but pulling away from the lights it bogged down badly and then when it got to about 5.5k started to fly again. After about 20mins of driving and trying to figure out what i had done, I relaised and turned the vtec back up to 5.5k. I boosted once more that night to check and parked my car for the night.

The next morning i drove and after about 10mins pooooof, lots of blue smoke.

Well my theory is.... When vtec engages, it advances the timing alot, and as this was only at 2k rpm it didnt have enough fuel to cope and started to detinate (I didnt hear anything but you never know).

Any input on this would be much appreacheated as i really dont want this to happen on my new setup. Thanks very much.

Steve

honda115 is an unknown quantity at this point
nope.... vtec doesn't advance timing (or so i belive, correct me if im wrong), vtec simply allows more air to be drawn in. I bet what happend was, when you changed the vtec point, the correct fuel wasn't sent in with that extra air, more air from vtec + boost - fuel = blown motor you were pretty close though, good luck with the new internals
