Boost Spike

ok here is the problem. the wastegate that came with my turbo kit (drag gen 3) is the Turbonetics Deltagate Mark II Wastegate. It seems to have come with a 4psi spring. I say seems because when the boost controller (greddy profec B) is turned off, 4psi is where it boost to, or where it did limit boost before my little problem. I am running low boost at 7psi and high at 11psi on a B18C1. A while back i got stupid and started messing with the balance knob on the profec b thinking it would make the turbo "spool up faster" (I know now it was a stupid thought). Well since then there has been a boost spike problem. It happens like this. I get on the gas and hit the desired boost level, lets say low boost (7psi) and it stays there. But if I take my foot off the gas, (blowoff valve blows the boost out like it should), and then get back on the gas quickly, it spikes up a few psi and stays there. Example:
hit gas, boost to desired level, let of the gas, and hit gas again, results in 3 to 4 psi spike. This also happens now if I downshift and floor it. I thought it might be the boost controller so I turned it off. Same result. Where it should stay at 4psi with the boost controller off, it spikes to 6 or 7 depending on how much I do what is described above.
I wondered if this is all caused by me messing with that balance knob on the profec b, but like I said it does it with the profec b turned off too.

Any thoughts???

if you're having boost spike problems, and have a Deltagate wastegate, you need to switch to a Tial. Deltagate is notorious for boost creep and spike problems.

it might not be the wastegate. I know of alot of people having boost spike with the drag mani. the wastegate placement is not the best of places

yeah the fact that it's a drag manifold only further increases the problem with the Deltagate.
