tech wrench Boosting a D16Y8

Okay, ive got a turbo kit, but no intercooler as of yet, im not gonna install it until i put my new weseco pistons and eagle rods in the bottom end lowering comp to 8.6:1. A cam will come later, but before i put this thing in my car, i need to find some intercooler pipes for a T25 turbo. I cant seem to find any around, and making some myself requires miles that i cant travel as of yet, I just was wondering if anyone has the same turbo as me, with a IC kit on it, and where it came from.

Also just for fun, all you T25's, what kinda boost numbers you get with your turbo? My old Z6 i got up to 15 psi safely, i wanna hear something outrageous!

8.6:1 and a T25 is going to suck big time... Don't waste money building the bottom end just to use a t25. The t25 won't push enough air to justify the upgraded internals.

moving this to the turbo forum.

9.6:1 w/t25 should be fine. How much boost are you trying to run and how do you plan to tune it?

im not going for an insane amount of power in this car, but me personally im looking for around 7-8psi of boost. I have a friend that has a 1g eclipse with a pretty large turbo, hes pushing 19psi right now. I was also gonna buy a VAFC-II unit from him for about 150 bucks, with the harness, for fuel control, as far as boost control? just a simple manual boost control under the hood, my friends thinks its the best way to go with a smaller turbo.

from what ive heard a afc hack isnt the best way to go. you might be better off with an FMU and a fuel pump upgrade. please correct me if im wrong.

Why are you going to have the motor built only to throw in a dinky T25? :bh

I would Run the VAFC hack with 450cc injectors anyday over an FMU.

why not because you can run 20psi and make 250whp......

I would serioulsy look into a larger turbo to make more more power, or if you just like a little boost in power keep the t25.....

minimal lag and ok power = decent street car
decent lag plus awsome power = fun street car..

That turbo is only efficient to around 13-14psi and since it is so small, I don't see anyone getting to 250whp with it...

the T25 is nearly maxed out at stock on a dsm, running anywhere from 12-14 lbs, pushing it 16 lbs will give you a super torquey low to mid range power but will blow nothing but hot air out as it starts becoming inneffiect and dropping off boost pressure after 5.5K rpms (again on a dsm)
