BOV noob question

Hy... I'm a noob at this so please don't flame me
I heart that if you have a turbo system installed on your car, then you need to have a BOV (blow off valve) installed also, that is similar to a wastegate... but how do I set it at the chosen PSI ?
For example I'm runing 8 PSI at max RPM (8000), at how much presure should I set my BOV ? And how do it do it ? Do it just change the spring(s) like a wastegate? I'm confused.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, or just point me to a BOV guide or something...

Thanx !

ive just started reading up on this stuff myself.. from what i know.. you do not need to set the BOV.. kinda just like a plug and play type deal.. its so you dont have so much pressure build up in the lines and intake manifold..

blow off valves and wastegates are two different things.

wastegates are either internally mounted in the turbo or externally on the turbo manifold. their job is to regulate boost by opening a valve at a preset psi (usually determined by the spring inside them) to bleed off exhaust thus limiting boost.

blow off valves are mounted on the intake charge piping, or in some cases on the hot side of an air to air intercooler. their purpose is to vent the intake charge in the piping when the throttle closes so that the pressurized air doesnt make it's way back to the turbo, possibly causing damage.

there's usually a nut on the top of the BOV, and by turning this, you change the sound that the BOV makes.

but like dom said, its basically "plug and play"

HKS has said that the worst thing that they ever did was to put that nut on the back of the BOV. if it works then dont touch it.
