Changing turbos?

Ok. I own an 2000 civic si with B16a2. My friend has this small ass turbo he will give to me for 150. I wanted to go all motor but just to hard for a b16. My question is if I put on his turbo and get all the piping and so on. Could I later on swap the small one out with a biggger one and still use the same piping? Thanks for the help!

maybe maybe not. depends on if they use the same mounting flange to mount to your turbo manifold and you may still need to modify your charge piping for a different turbo. Changing the charge piping isn't a big deal, but not being able to reuse your turbo manifold might be, so do your homework before purchasing. You can buy a reconditioned turbo for a reasonable amount.

I say get the turbo, and figure out if u can upgrade later...
It will only help u make power, and later if u want to change it to a larger turbo, u already have ALMOST all of the parts... Regardless of the turbo itself, if u have the Fuel management, I/C, piping, and ECU or whatever, u can just get a different manifold and downpipe if u have to change it for a new turbo.
What turbo is it exactly?

The manifold and downpipe are two costly pieces of a turbo setup. You need to find out what turbo your friend is trying to sell...

Yes, they are costly...
But If u know someone who welds, u can get a custom flange welded on to the original downpipe and mainfold, for almost nothing.
my friend has a IHI turbo on a D16Z6, he custom made the flange...

Most of the time it will work. Just make sure you are using a manifold that wil take both turbos.

I went from a t3/04e to a T67 with no changes in piping. Just bolted it right on
