Question Colored intercoolers?

I was wondering, every intercooler I see is polished silver. Now that looks cool, but I have a black car and I think a gunmetal intercooler would look kick ass on a black car. Does anyone sell a gunmetal colored intercooler? If so, how much more might it be than say the same one but silver?

i don't think they sell gunmetal or colored ones for that matter. They keep them bare metal for better cooling properties. SO, to keep the cooling properties the same, they can pretty much only color it. If you want to sacrafice performance for looks, you can probably get it powdercoated for not too much.

nah i don't want to powdercoat it because I don't really like the way powder coating looks. I was just wondering because I think it would be cool and different. I have heard of colored turbos so I was hoping this was the same, i guess not.

if you like gunmetal, get some gunmetal rims(im not trying to be an ass) but the intercooler isn't the place for fancy coloring... it wont hurt the cooling too much if you give it a light spraypaint coat, but then it may wear off and chip.

although i agree and think it would look neat.
unless you found an ic with a copper core i would leave it alone...

Yeah looking at it now I kinda do like the regular silver look. I guess I will just have to be like everyone else and get silver.

I know people have painted them black for a "sleeper" look. I saw a civic hb like that once. Looked totally stock, even down to the stock muffler hanging there, with it 1.5" tip. Little did you know the car ran like 11's. Majorly built engine, boosting like 20lbs.

if thats true then the guy would gain probably 20+hp by using an aftermarket or custom exhaust, maybe more.

no, he wasnt using the stock exhaust, he had a custom 3", but it ended about halfway under the car, the stock muffler was there just to make the car look stock.
