how does the IHI VF30 turbo compare to a t3/t04? in total possible power? in spool time? etc.

also, how does the t3/t4 compare to the t3/t04? same as above. thanks a lot for the lesson.

Well I don't know much about t3/t04 turbos, but I can tell you about the IHI VF30. The VF30 was a joint design project between IHI and STi specifically for the version VII STi RA (basically rally car). The compressor housing is 47mm and incorporates a 9 blade compressor wheel. The core is a divided thrust bearing and has a P18 exhaust housing. It is an internal wastgate design with a C484 actuator and can produce about 25 psi max.

On the WRX (ej20 engine, 2.0L, 8.0:1 cr), a VF30 will produce around 360 crank hp @ 17 psi (with supporting mods) and spools up around 3700-4000 rpm.

The IHI VF34 is identical to a VF30 except it has a roller bearing core.

Hope this helps
