turbocharging advantages
this is my post to a thread a couple weeks ago, peep this...
"the other day I had someone ask me about turbos v.s. superchargers on Hondas, they were thinking that with an s/c they wouldn't have lag and they'd get the power they wanted right off the line, and I began to reply, "that's not neccessarily so"
some may say "well with s/c, there's no lag like with turbo" (that was just an example), but that's not true. There are many, many different turbos possible to use when turbocharing an engine. For example, if you bolt on a 15g turbo (Mitsu turbos found in some GReddy kits), you'll be spooling up and hitting full boost much quicker than you would with say a T4 (of whatever trim). This brings me to the subject of choosing the appropriate turbo for you; you have to take into consideration your power goals and what you want out of your set-up, in order to select parts that will satisfy what you want from your car; with the s/c route, you're pretty limited there.
And every day, without fail, I read/see major supercharger problem after major supercharger problem. It seems there's a horror story everywhere I go. S/Cs do not have as much potential as a turbo set-up and there is definitely not as much aftermarket for them. -For exmaple, many S/C people (more the JRSC area) are vying to get their hands on the new true style intercooler coming out (yep, singular noun) for their app.s; when turbo owners have had a vast array of intercoolers (diff. designs, models, sizes, brands) available for years upon years.
I recommend going turbo, over s/c for the majority of Hondas.
Keep in mind this thread is not to knock superchargers, but through the years I've been in this scene, the turbo has shown its prevalency."
