custom exhaust vs. thermal turbo exhaust?

i realize that a 3" exhaust is gonna b better in a turbo application, but my question is what is the difference btween going to some shop and telling them i want a 3" custom job and paying 550 for a 3" thermal set up? thanks.

Price possibly and with the custom setup...you may be able to choose a muffler that is more stealthy...if you choose to.

The difference is dependent on what you want fro mthe custom setup. But here are some general differences:

1.) Material used(mild steel, 304 stainless, 321 stainless, etc.)
2.) Mandrel or crushed bends
3.) Exhaust piping route
3.) Muffler itself
4.) Price(shops vary in price, could be less, the same, or more expensive the n the Thermal).

I'd go with 3" mandrel bent piping and an Apex N1 turbo muffler, very effective and easy on the wallet.

Thermal is Good Quality stuff. But depending on your Wallet you can get a good system from a muffler shop beding you one. Granted they use Mandrel Bend piping.

Magnaflow also has some Race series mufflers with 3" inlets that will work well.

Good Luck!

I think the shop is just telling you that because maybe he cant do mandrel bending, and doesnt want you to go to a rival shop. I would suggest calling around most muffler shops now days have mandrel bending machines. Let me know if you have any further questions.

no-one being able to work with mandrel bent piping is bullshit. the shop just doesn't want to do it or can't do it. take your business elsewhere :
