Unhappy Did I just impulse buy the wrong turbo?

Hi all. I may have just made a $250 oops, and I wanna know how badly I just screwed myself.

I just bought a turbo for my custom setup off of ebay, a Te04h in awesome shape! When I hit the "buy it now" button, I thought this turbo was bigger than a T3, but I did a little reading, and it turns out this is the turbo of the 2.2L dodge daytona. What's the lesson here? ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY!!! The entire turbo looks really nice, but I'm worried I might have made a poor choice.

This turbo is supposed to boost a ZC, running 7psi on stock internals first, and then higher boost when I get some better gear.

Should I try to make this one work? or should I try to flip it on Ebay for what I paid?

not a horrible turbo for the custom setup... You probly could have found the same thing in a junkyard though, for a lot cheaper... It should push 7psi if I'm thinking about the same turbo... You'll be fine, you probly just paid a lil more than you should have Good luck! when you're done post PICS!

bad move, i used to run the teo4h.

its terribly restrictive, even compared to a garret t3, and will enduce a lot of back pressure under boost.

you might not get a whole lot of boost out of it either, 7psi might be pushing its limits.

Crap... this is what I thought... The guy had it listed as a T3 TE04H.... and right in the header he had "CUSTOM T3
HIGH PERFORMANCE TURBOCHARGER."

The turbo charger looks brand new, and it came with a manifold, all the coolant/oil lines, and some injectors. I thought it was a good deal until I realized it's not a T3. Well shit!:

Now comes the hard part... I haven't paid him yet. Do I take negative feedback for being a deadbeat bidder and just not pay? Or do I pay for it and try to sell it on ebay again?

I'm sure there's a daytona out there somewhere with a dead turbo.. those things ALWAYS break down

I'm not gonna keep it thats for sure. I wanna build I nice turbo system, not a little bitch one. What turbo should I get for a nice daily driver with BIG NUTZ? lol! I was thinking a garrett T3 since they're suppose to spool very quickly, and provide good overall responce. Any opinions?

well, attempt to contact the seller and discuss it. Maybe you can simply pay him relisting fees. You could also contact ebay because it sounds as though it was mis-advertised, that should fall under their fraud category.

i take back what i said about the TEO4H, its a great turbo, and dont feel "stuck" with it. it will hold up awesome and provide you with as much boost as your engine can handle, i just had some back luck and let some stupid people install mine. but its all good man, i hope you keep it, its a great turbo.

Update

Well here's the latest info. I looked around a little more and found that the general opinion is Te04h is a horribly restrictive turbo. Aparently these things cause an insane amount of backpressure do to the incredibly tiny turbine housing.

After finding this out I was rather pissed off that this guy was advertising it as a "high performance turbocharger". I wrote him back saying I'd refuse to pay because of the misleading ad, and the fact that he lied to me about a question I asked. I decided to take the negative feedback, rather than overpay for a crappy turbo!

So the search for the best turbocharger continues, although I've decided to postpone it until early spring in order to pay down some bills.

Thanks for the advice peeps!

Re: Update

That sucks you got jacked.

Sometimes you have to be willing to pay a lot more for a quality product. I'd recommend that when building your custom setup be wise, and when it comes to the turbo just buy a brand new one. Shoot...if nothing else then buy the one I'm selling cause I made a mistake.

Long story short with me... too many ? marks came up with the setup I had put together to start with, and so I just bought a ton of stuff brand new to make sure it'd physically fit and fit my tight time schedule of instalation.
