Diesel

I just bought a turbo off a diesel engine and i was wondering if it would be to big for a built B18 ls motor? Yes, I know that i would have to change the exhaust housing.

Tranny69 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I would say it's most likely too big, but not necessarily. The 4-cylinder turbo-Ford guys like to use the Holset HX/HY35s (off of Ram 2500s) on their 2.3 litres. With a good flowing head/manifold combination they can get boost out of them around 3000-3500 rpm, which isn't too bad.

I have heard bad things about the F250 units, though (they use Garrett turbos, right?). A while back a DSM guy tried to use one off a '99 on his Laser. The thing only made a couple pounds of boost right near redline. This is completely second-hand information, though, so please don't take it to heart.

Why don't you look into a smaller, faster spooling turbo like the IHI off a Probe, or a stock DSM turbo? It will limit your top end, but there is something to be said for boost that you get right now. I had a hybrid T3/T4 on my setup for a while, but I went back to a T3 compressor housing/wheel because the lag made it a pain to drive on the street.

Anyway, diesel turbos DO work on some small displacement 4-cyls (they look and sound pretty cool, too!), but you might be better off going with something a little smaller for streetability.

Its not for the street only for the track. If your friend didn't get boost until redline, maybe because of a bad wastegate or boost leak. I'll try try to find a smaller turbo, but this one was free from my dad.
