itr206 said you may be able to use them, but they may be overkill with turbo .. but i'd say install the turbo, and get it tuned hardcore ASAP .. if they don't work, just switch back to stock gsr cams
Just an interesting fact. The 996 Porsche Turbo has lower lift & shorter duration camshafts than the 996 Carrera.
I don't think you will need cams, because the turbo will push more air into the cylinders. Another reason why turbo cars have lower compression. If you are after really high horsepower, then fit longer duration & higher lift cams.

the answer to your question is yes, you can keep the cams. Though they are mainly for all-motor you still will make power regardless. However, you would make better use of the boost with turbo cams. I read this on Maixmum boost, by Corky Bell. He said that all motor cams tend to cause more backpressure because of overlap which may also cause high temperatures. though I 've heard of people making good power on stock cams. If you have the stock cams, I would throw those back in.
High compression is good for spool and ifyou constantly use say 113 octane. That one 2.4l SRT-4 neon runs on Drag mag. runs 11:1 compression but with race fuel. That thing runs 7's. but that for strip
for Street/strip low compression is good, that way you can good to work on 89 or 91 octane,(ifyou live in Cal)

BTW on the over lap part and not to use bigger cams. i was told to sel my type R cams and go with GSR cams becuase too much for turbo and i could make more power without them .
Newsflash , i know someone who made 616 whp with them the other day. Thats why i said you might be suprised. I know you can go even bigger on the cams becuase i know people doin g that also and its working .
