DIY Turbo setup

I've read a while back an article on a DIY Turbo setup, meaning you piece together a turbo using parts of different cars. (I think Drift a PH.com was doing something like that). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a link to sites were this is explained or any kind of information is good. I don't know anything about it for now, but want to learn fast. The engine in this case is a D14, but I think anything for a D16 non-vtec will work 2.

So,
what parts do I need?
what donorcars?
and what would the overall cost be?

this site has a decent explanation of a "junkyard" turbo setup.

also you can check out kits like Drag and Revhard to see what they include. that will give you an idea of what's involved. there's a sticky in this forum telling you about each of them.

and the "forced induction" forum at honda - tech . com (minus the spaces) is really good. lots of guys there with tons of turbo experience. i find it very helpful.

you can also contact shops in your area that may have turbo experience. doesn't hurt to ask questions.
