Dyno Results, Bad?

Ok, I got my car Dynoed yesterday, and Im dissappointed. Its a 2000 GSR with 40,000 miles. F-Max kit @ 8psi with thicker head gasket. The only other mods are a 2.5 cat back and Autometer Lunar series Boost, A/f, EGT and Oil Pressure and HSK turbo timer. Just take a look, WTF is up with the drop @ 4500 RPM's???? It looks like VTEC is kicking my ass. Correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt it start at 4400 RPM's? The guys doing the dyno said that the Apex-i VAFC could cure this and that the thicker head gasket is screwing with my cam's so they also recomened some AEM adjustables. Well....any sujestions? Could VTEC be that bad for Turbo? BTW im in Colorado at an Altutide of around 5,500 ft.
Next A/F. It all looks good except for the Richness at 6000 and then the Leanness at 7000. They tried adjusting the F-max MF2 but got the same results every time. I spent about 3 1/2 hours at the Dyno, made about 12 pulls all in 4th gear. Grrr I was expecting around 220 hp and 190 tq. At least Im making good tq down low.

just to make sure, you're tuning with the MF2 and a V-AFC? Are you using bigger than stock injectors?

That weirdness at 4500 is caused by vtec. The only true way to really smooth that out is with more tuning, preferrably with a standalone EMS (the way to meet the power/reliability potential of your set-up at x psi).

also, that Autometer A/F gauge is pretty useless. It may only be accurate at WOT. Your EGT will be more helpful.

I would say that the cam timing is the deal. I went to the dyno and found out that the mechanic that installed my cams installed the belt one tooth off on both cams! So it looked like it was at TDC but really it was far from it! I also had a big fat dip, not as big as yours but pretty big. We gradually adjusted the cam gears to compensate for the tooth off and for every two degrees (we weren't absolutely positive I was off a tooth so we went 2 degrees at a time, turning the crank each time to listen for valve tap), and every pull after that yielded about 3-4 whp more and a smaller dip in the midrange. Actually come to think of it, when the gears were off about 6 degrees or so (one tooth = 10 degrees), the dip was the sharpest. So definitely get some cam gears, you'll need them with the head gasket.

What's the F-Max, is that a fuel pressure regulator? Anyway, did you mess with the fuel settings on the V-AFC? I used my B&M FPR and S-AFC for tuning the fuel and they were pretty effective, I get shitty gas mileage now though, like 24mpg. Oh well! It usually gets about 5mpg better in the summer.

BTW I gained 24whp and 16wtq that day at the dyno tuning the fuel (which wasn't that bad before tuning) and fixing the timing. So you could very well make a lot more power.

F-MAX is a turbo kit. The MF2 is the fuel management device they include with the kit.

No no no, I DONT have a VAFC. The tuners said it may be fixed with a VAFC. While at the Dyno, they tried to tune it by adjusting the MF2. MF2 is an electronic fuel controller that controlls the 2 additional injectors on the FMAX kit. I have stock injectors and the 2 440cc additional injectors infront of the throttle body. Im not tuning it by looking at my Autometer A/f. At the dyno they had a Wideband O2 to adjuset the MF2 with. Sooo...anyone wanna buy me an VAFC and some Cam Gears?

Oh ok I didn't read your post carefully enough. So yeah, just save up for cam gears and a V-AFC plus some tuning time. Yeah I know it's a lot more money to be spent but you'll get a lot of gains and still have the same parts essentially, it'll be cool. I got my cam gears new for $185 shipped and S-AFC for $305 shipped.
