the only thing it doesnt come with is a boost controller

I just got the kit and put it in over the weekend. It is top notch quality and fitment, and the turbo spools very quickly and at about 3k rpm you get full boost. I can't say enough about how good this kit is. I got a great deal on this kit (under $3k), and no I can't tell you where I got it from. The Tial bov is the best sounding bov valve I've heard....I'm totally addicted to the sound. Every part in the kit is quality, and the only thing you really have to modify is the inside bumper for the intercooler, and the fender well liners for the piping. If you have any other questions about this kit let me know. I have nothing bad to say about it at all. The turbo is a Garrett T28 ball bearing, not huge but plenty big and it feels quite at home with the sohc motor.

BTW, if you look on the Edelbrock website they say that the turbo can be run up to 15-18 psi. They offer a "race" version of the kit, for those of you with built motors.

I have a rating from my shop.

so far, mixed review/opinions
Upside - fit and finish is pretty good, not quite as nice as GReddy but still good. Kit is very complete.

Downside - fuel "solution" is a fucking joke. This thing has done nothing but detonate, and the kit shipped without any sort of provision for the map sensor. On top of that, since this car was an automatic, it didnt fit as well as it would have, and a few small knick knacks had to be adjusted or added to. Worse yet, Edelbrock has no idea how to solve the detonation issue - and I doubt my customer wants to shell out cashola for Hondata after spending 3500 on the kit.

Final thoughts - like every other kit, it would be great if it came supplied with Hondata...

Mine was detonating also when I first hooked it up. I think that the extra fuel rail and injectors drop the fuel pressure down a few psi. My guage was reading about 38 psi before I put the turbo on, then after it was about 34 psi. I bumped the fuel pressure up to about 40 psi at idle, and now it's fine. Something I'm struggling with now is oil is getting into the exhaust when I'm coming to a stop. The oil return line is a bit long in the kit, so it dipped down before it went into the pan. I zip tied the line up higher and now it doesn't smoke nearly as bad, but I still am getting a little bit of blue smoke when I come to a stop or decelerate going slowly. Maybe I've just got some oil still burning off inside the exhaust.....we'll see. At least the fuel management isn't as crude as an fmu.

Wuddduppp

Hey guys,

I know i've been dead for a while - shit happened, but im still alive and kickin. CRX-SC, good to see you here, with that kit man =)

I got the edelbrock kit on my D16Y8 right now, it's got about 3k miles and 2 oil changes on it so far. Yea, i changed after about 500 miles just cuz I didnt like thinking about any possibility of left over metal shavings in the pan.

My opinion on this kit is that the way it bolts up and the way it looks is A+. But let me tell you that I thought the instructions they supplied with the kit were f'ing ridiculous, for the $$ they should have spent at least another day producing a decent install manual IMO.

Kit performs pretty well, had a boost leak on one of the bottom silicone couplings that this kit uses to seal all of the charge pipes together after a minor scrape. Lots of little issues here and there but its all been taken care of.

My biggest gripe with this kit is that after about 6k RPM it becomes really inconsistent. Sometimes I'll run great other times its dissapointing.

I think I need to replace or have tuned the turbo-link computer that it came with, any suggestions of shops in the So.Cal area that have good experience with the turbo-link? Thaaanks

GreenGo, good to hear from you again. I'm kind of in the same boat as you as far as the higher rpms go. When I get into vtec I usually start detonating. Now the thing is that I'm using the OBD1 ecu, so I'm not sure yet if that is most of the problem or it's the Link controller. I think since I already have the OBD1, that I may look into getting Hondata. It seems like a few people are already complaining about the Link controller and their cars detonating. Some days my car runs great, other times it has detonated at 0 vacuum!! Agreed, the fit and finish it excellent, but the fuel management seems to be the short coming of this kit so far.

Let's keep each other posted on what happens. I'm thinking I'm going to try my OBD2 ecu for a few days and see how it runs with that. I'll let you know.

Either Super Street or Sports Compact car has a write up on the kit. They blew their engine (due to a malfunctioning wastegate). Overall, they said it was a great kit.
