BTW: I'm not just saying RH because I sell them. I have done lots of research on the different kits, and their strengths and weaknesses...and if you remember back on the old SHO, I published the comparisons, and RH comes out on top.
The Stage I is no longer available, but you won't have to worry about your internals on the Stage II. The Stage II is just fine with stock internals...
The main problems I found with the F-MAX kit are the manifold, which is not even comparable to any Rev Hard manifold. Design, quality, construction, etc...and the fuel system, those 2 extra injectors places before the throttle body...I woudln't do that on my car. Adding two injectors is a poor replacement for actually upgrading the stock ones. The two injectors sit in front of the throttle body, and the fuel is not dispersed equally. The only way to ensure equal dispersion is to have one injector per cylinder, like stock. If that weren't the case, Honda would have just thrown one big high flow injector in from of the throttle body, and let it saturate the intake manifold.
As well, as good as the stock intake manifolds design is, it is not designed to have fuel injected into it. The injectors are placed where they are places by the factory for a reason. Even though the stock intake manifold is designed with a semi-rough surface, which allows air pockets to jump and keep fuel from settling, the design was not made to accomodate 2 injectors coming at it. The design was intended for NO fuel whatsoever being there.
There is no replacement for upgrading the stock ones.
All of the kits use the same basic setups...turbo, piping, intercooler...etc...But the manifold designs, the fuel systems, etc...are usually the variables.
I think the Rev Hard system comes with an FMU and an in line fuel pump...but even that, I would upgrade to a holley in tank.
From what I have studied, the Rev Hard is the best all around kit, and it has the best dyno proven results...
hey, i'm running a b16a2 from a 95 sir2... got a set of crower stage 3 race cams, a set of the crower dual valve springs and titanium retainers, a set of dc sports cam gears, block guard, venom vcn2k setup(not installed yet) test pipe, dc sport 4-1 header, and a dc sports catback (along with a no name intake from autozone, only got it since the intake on the car when i bought it was raggedy as all get out...) i'm looking at chunking the 4-1 in favor of a turbo, i know, i know, the cams have major overlap, but i figure if i adnace the exhaust and retard the intake a few degress and tune form there, between that, my vafc form apexi and the back pressure caused by air stacking in the primaries between the head and the turbo(in the manifold) i shouldn't really lose any boost due to overlap... either way i'm looking for a kit, and the only kit i've been able to find for a 94 with a dohc vtec motor in it is the f-max.. oh, and i have the r-ideal head gasket coming so i can run a little more boost... never heard of rev hard before, anyone have a website i can check it out?
MaT3T4 is exactly right... i dont belive in the concept of the whole injector fetish Fmax has, its just not logical..... and thier manifolds as Matt said is far less superior to Rev Hards....
