type-r Which Fuel Pressure Regulator? FPR?

hey guys,
Alright im guessing a turbocharged GSR requires a new fuel pump and an FMU at minimum. So the fmu is inthe mail and friday im ordering my walbro 255lph pump. I want to know when i order my pump should i also get a fuel pressure regulator and gauge? Liek from BnM? The gauge is only $30 and the regulator is like 55? its not bad, plus it looks cool! But is it neccesary? I don't want to run rich at idle and smell the $hit at lights so people beside me think my car is a 88 smokin piece, lol. I also don't want it to run lean and detonate. What woudl you guys suggest? Any luck with making your own adjustable fuel pressure systems?

Exclamation FPR's....

The guage and FPR are great to have. Your FMUs like Cartech and Vortech are great and in some applications can probably do the job of working with your OEM FPR to regulate both your static fuel pressure and boost. The Guage is a good tuning tool for under the hood monitoring. I have a JRSC GSR and I have a AEM FPR on an AEM Fuel Rail with the Guage mounted in the rail. The Jackson FMU gets beat on alot on this web-board and so does the AEM FPR. (The Jackson is NOT applicable for your TURBO!!! Believe me...I've seen it attempted down here. : ) I have had no problems from either on my JRSC Kit. Your fuel pump is your best investment so far. The general rule of thumb is that your fuel system is always #1. Don't forget your injectors need upgrading if your running crazy boost. Good luck and don't be afraid of running alittle rich until you can get some dyno time in to do your air-fuel tuning. All this is just my personal opinion follow your manufactors advice as much as possible, Better safe than sorry.

word dude so should i just let those parts go aside for a little while? I have 290cc dsm injectors im gonan slap on but that might be too much fuel for only 6psi. I need to get that darn resistor pak!!! Anyhow is it NECCESARY to have the FPR with a huge pump?

Well, I wouldn't let them go out of sight. I think you'd enjoy having them, an extra adjustment at idle is always a great thing to have in the engine bay when its tuning time. Your 290's are probably fine for 6psi. Your fuel pump is NOT OVERKILL. Your fuel pump (on a EFI system) will not cause you too run rich. All it does is make sure ample fuel is delivered to the rail for the injectors to disperse. All its going to do is pump and what ever the system doesn't use is gonna go back out the return line. Your fuel pump is the life of the system. Think of it as a "heart". I think a set of RC310's would be a nice upgrade down the road, but you will need to look at an AVC-R, VAFC or some sort of piggyback fuel management to regulate the fuel flow @ idle and at given RPM's. Your dyno tuning consultant should be able to guide you whats best for the application. Right now, the 290's are probably doing ok. I'd get the FPR and Guage before I'd worry about injectors, for now.
