Garrett Turbo refresher course (CBR 600 F4i Application)

Hey all,

I don't really know my Garrett turbo terminology very well, and am just looking for the correct direction to head for my application.

My formula SAE team at university is looking into turbocharging our car which runs the CBR600 F4i motor. I know what there is to know about boosting, tuning, finding your powerband etc, but when I'm putting together beginner builds for people, they usually look at Turbonetics kits (which apparently now use Garrett made turbos), which are set in trim levels, and mostly based on a T3/T4 code name.

How does it work for Garrett?...more specifically, since we're working on a 600cc motor, what's the smallest turbo we can find? We have to be hitting boost early, as the auto-x portion of the event only reaches auto-x speeds, and the drag race is less than 1/16 qtr mile.

So if anyone can give a quick refresher course in the Garrett brand, and how they go about rating/listing their turbos, it would be hugely appreciated, as I need to put together a system over the next week so I can present the team with a basic parts list.

Thanks.

Nevermind, Garrett's website has a great nomenclature section.

Anybody know much about the GT1241 (more specifically about its internal wastegate)?
