H22 DRAG TURBO

what is the biggest size of turbo that can fit on the drag manifold for the H22's?

any T3 flange turbine setup will work. as for clearance between the condenser fan and turbine, I wouldnt use a turbo any larger than a .70 A/R ratio compressor housing on a T04B backplate. T04E backplates are too wide to fit in there, unless you goosenecked the manifold to raise the turbine over the manifold.

why did importparts said that the T3/T04B will only fit the drag manifold and the flange on the T3/T04E is too big? so what specs can i go with that will make good topend power up to 7500-8000rpm? that .70 a/r looks good....can you explain it more to me

the drag design will only allow a T3/T04B turbocharger since it positions the turbine further from the block than most other manifolds. because of this, clearance to the fans becomes a problem. Drag kits come with T3/T04B turbochargers in their Gen III kits, so i dont know what he's talking about.

plus, T3/T04B or any T3/T04 combination uses a standard T3, 4 bolt, rectangular mounting flange... any T3 turbine will fit if you have enough room in the engine bay.

as for turbine specs for power, i have my own "witch's brew" for combinations that suit the H22A... most are proprietary setups that work very well for their application.

for a topend turbocharger, a T3/T04B with a .60A/R compressor housing and -15 compressor wheel mated to a stage 3 turbine and a .83A/R turbine housing should produce some stunning top end results. you wont get a huge mid range punch, but you'll hit full boost at close to 4500rpm.

for something with a stock redline and more midrange punch, swap out the turbine and housing for a stage 2 with .63A/R housing... a bit more pressure from the smaller turbine housing will force the turbine to spool up faster, netting you full boost before 3500rpm... this is the setup I used for autocrossing, providing me with over 200whp at 4000rpm, excellent for dragging me out of the turns.

from what i understand the drag turbo is a stage 3 with a
.63 A/R and i think a 48 or 50 trim...

how would i explain it to say majestic if i wanted a .82 a/r like what you said? Also what trim should i get with the .82 A/R. Can they do all this in the T3/T04B housing? Lastly how much does it usually go for?
