wassup......i got myself a crx Si(sold my accord) and i was wondering if i can put a stock mistu GSX turbo in my Si engine.....?....i was thinking about getting a new motor but i might just get a new car..maybe a 98 integra or a 99 civic Si and make that fast . but the crx is just to mess around with and be able to beat some cars. i knoe ill need a new exhaust manifold and new downpipes.......do you think i can use the ones of the GSX or do i have to get costume fabricated ones???..my Si engine has 110XXX miles on it....Also if i get it turboed im gonna get a custom 3" downpipe with a universal muffler, new spark splugs and new wires and does the Si motor have Vtev c cuz if it does ill prolly get a Vafc......thanks
What year eclipse is the turbo from? If it is from a 90-94 it is a 14b turbo, if it is from a 95-99, it is a T25 turbo. 14b turbos are a little larger than T25's, just for your info....
Basically, instead of spending $300 on a turbo manifold, you can get a 88-91 Civic Standard Hatch-Back exhaust manifold (you can use the one from the HF, but the ports aren't as big), do a good port job on it (for better flow for the turbo), custom make a turbo flange adapter out of 3/4" mild-steel (the turbo has a round port and the exhaust manifold has a square one...), and custom make a downpipe from a stock mitsubishi downpipe flange (side that goes on the turbo), some exhaust piping, and a honda flange (to connect to the catalyst).
That is how you can get the turbo hooked up to your head and to your exhaust system....you will have to custom make your intake piping, run oil feed/return lines, and properly manage your fuel/ignition system, etc...

Oh, and no, the 88-91 Civic Si and CRX Si do not have VTEC, they are running a D16A6 engine. You can, however, swap a 92-95 or 96-00 Civic VTEC head on it, if you want to have VTEC...and you will get either 10.4:1 (92-95 head) or 11.2:1 (96-00 head) compression instead of your stock 9.1:1, as well.
If you want information about doing this VTEC conversion, just ask...

Yes, everything will bolt up! The D16Y8 (96-00 Civic EX) head is the easiest head to put on (you don't have to modify your distributor), and it produces the most power, it would be 11.2:1 compression. That's pretty much what I'm going to be running soon (D16A6 pistons, and rods in my D16Y8).
You also need a 92-95 civic EX computer or a VTEC controller (Fields or Apex V-AFC).
It is recommended that you replace your stock oil pump with one from a VTEC engine (such as the D16z6 (92-95 Civic EX) or D16Y8 (96-00 Civic EX), it will bolt straight in, no problem.
You need to buy a head gasket that is made for the head you put on. Also, on your block you need to remove the oil jet in the middle (between cylinder 2 and 3), upper part on the deck of the block when you are looking down at it with the head off...
You need the timing belt for the VTEC head as well...
You can use the intake manifold off of a 96-00 Civic EX for an even greater flow than your stock manifold.

thanks 00CivicVtec for the help....Hopefully ill do the head swap so i can have some Vtec. Also what would you recommend a D16Y8 Head or a D16Z6 Head which one will provide more hp. One more question....Do you knoe where i can find these parts or order them from???? thanks

Dude I smoked your secret stash above your door!
Dude, that was my missletoe.
Oh, It did give me a wired buzz.
Yes, I got alot of turbo information from homemadeturbo.com, it is a great site.
As far as OEM parts (oil pump, gaskets, etc.), call your Honda dealer, get their part numbers for the parts you need and then goto hparts.com, they sell all OEM Honda parts for WAY below what it costs at the dealer, they have most everything in stock, and they charge ACTUAL shipping charges, they don't upcharge like most places...
A D16Y8 head will make 11.2:1 compression and a D16Z6 head will make 10.4:1, so naturally, the D16Y8 head will produce more power, not to mention the larger ports in the head, and you will NOT have to modify your distributor while using the D16Y8 head (with the D16Z6 head, you have to do some custom fabrication to get it to work with your block).
If you need any used parts (head, etc.), just post a "wanted" on the classifieds portion of this website....for a complete VTEC head with all internals, valve cover, etc. you shouldn't pay more than $100-150.
