hit 15 psi on stock block last night, need to turn it down!

ok i have a greddy kit on my ls and last night i hit 15 psi without a boost controler. is my wastegate stuck shut? i have an internal wastegate and i need to know how to adjust this puppy so i dont keep over boosting my engine. also any ways to check if its properly working?

you need a different wastegate actuator or maybe you could use some washers to adjust it a lil. some internal wastegates could be adjusted by turning the rod.
did it shoot up straight to 15psi or it crept lil by lil?

I was about to ask the same thing......my vacuum line popped off the wastegate and i spiked to 19 psi and it cost me a blown HG and lots of downtime!

.

it went straight to 15. do i loosen that screw or do i tighten it to lose some boost. also my boost gauge is hooked up on a vacuum line about 3 fitings away from the throttle body. may i not be getting a good reading? also my blow off goes off close to 0 psi before boost. does this mean its wrong?

loosen the spring i'd say, what kind of BOV do you have? maybe you need to tighten it's screw down a little bit. Do you have a pic of your engine bay so we could maybe see if something is hooked up wrong?

stop guessing you newbs

first of all a blow off valve will NOT CAUSE OVERBOOST.....ever ever ever
the bov in some cases depending on the design may leak boost at a cirtain point, but it will never increase boost.

second of all, even if the boost gauge had a shitty source to get its signal, there is no way a shitty source is gonna make it show more boost than it is actually getting, just use common logic.

just check the wastegate line for leaks and make sure there is nothing inside the canister binding that may cause it to lock shut, give the rod a tug and make sure its freely moving. disconnect any boost controllers from the wastegate line as well to diagnose.

for the love of god people, what happened to the people on this forum that knew what they were talking about.

ahh...indeed they did. It does get annoying after a while, but still...if you dont know what the hell you are talking about or arent positive than dont say it, you could really screw someone up if you give them wrong info and they go with it. Think about shit before you post it.
