I need help selecting a turbo on ebay, after much reading I still need help....

ok so Im now starting to pice togeter a turbo kit,and here are my plans afer a week of so of reading, My goals are 150 whp on about 5 psi or less, I want this thing to last and last a while so Im aiming low. This is all on a 2000 civic EX which I will remove the A/C.

things in order of priority to get

-a turbo(to tell cc fab what flage)
-cc fab maniflod,Im thinking "The chuck noris"(PS: LMAO name, or mabby the ram horn for extra little pep and SICK look
-the after that have a 38mm tial WG on the mani
-a 3" down pipe
-route WG to DP(far down stream) for emisions purpose and I dont want hot gases all over the place randomly
-custum charge piping from JC whitney
-Johnny race car inter cooler,Im thinkin BOV after IC but route a line back to the Turbo intake
-OBDiib--->OBDI conversion,pherable.net,mabby bomsslang
-a virgin p28, maby someone here can chip it for me for less then they charge on phearable.(help me zer0daze)
-a boost guage and a/f guage for starter, turbo timer and an EBC
-then some dyno time after much studining of crome or uberdata

Im thinking about 1200 or so bucks but hey pice by pice Ill get it all done in a while w/e time is no problem for me

no for my question. Ive been hunting on ebay and Ive found quite a few turbos for decent pricing tell me which one you would pick and why?

1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Garre...56411793QQrdZ1

2 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T4...55805286QQrdZ1

3
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-H...57098459QQrdZ1

4
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-94...spagenameZWDVW

5
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/IHI-T...spagenameZWDVW

6
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DSM-1...spagenameZWDVW

Im also going to hit up the local p[ick your part junkyars and dig out as many turbos as I can for a decent price. Then pick the best one and sell the ones I dont use, any ideas on exacly what I should look for when I inspect the turbo? I know the basic iner working of a turbo from what I have read in books and on the internet but I really have never held a turbo in my hands.

Im also curius as to how one would go about cleaning these up? remove the rust and paint them with 1000+f paint? can I use petrolium based lubricants like wd-40 on them to clean them?

SportCompactCar Magazine came out with an article that talks all about turboing hondas and other inexpensive imports. I think the article was call buget boost or something like that, I'm building my turbo with the info I learned from reading that article.

if you route the bov back to the intake its a diverter valve. you may not have to remove the ac if the manifold is compatible, check with ccfab they make great shit. if you route the wg to the dp, far downstream expect to pay more for long ass custom piping. as far as performance goes, the log manifolds tend to be more durable, but they dont flow as well/efficiently as the ram style since it doesnt have equal length piping. and the ram looks sick as fuck. being from ccfab i think they lifetime warranty it too.

converting your car to obd1 will cause you to fail emissions because we cant plug into your ECU. routing the wg in the dp further downstream will not help you pass emissions since obd2s dont get rolled on the dynamometer or exhaust probe checks, so it doesnt matter where you put the wg dump-in your exhaust or open dump because it doesnt make a difference whether or not you pass.

if you wanna maKE IT last and still have some power/room to upgrade and almost no spool time, go t25 IMO. can find a good used one for cheap. and tune soon if you want reliability. if you have a dyno shop in your area they can likely chip a p28 for you w/crome or uberdata if they are able to tune with that software.

if you go looking for junkyard turbos, itd be good to open them up if you can. check for chipped blades, thats the main thing, they are a no no. if they chip more on your vehicle, theyll go straight into your engine. you dont want that.

whp derived from PSI depends on which turbo you get. a t25@5psi will not make the same power as a t3/t4@5psi. bigger turbos make more power, but take longer to spool. i was just thinkin since you want it safe,dd,last awhile while still netting your goal of 150whp, t25 would do the job.

cool, i didnt know the thread was that old lol. the gasket i got for my t3 was a piece of shit and busted in a month. i called up the turbonetics dealer and they were the coolest. they said instead of waiting 2 weeks and paying to have it shipped from california, i could pick up a turbo mani gasklet for a 87 thunderbird 2.3l turbo. so i called across the street from our work to our commercial parts supplier and replaced the gasket next day for $1.25

if your gasket ever fucks up get one from a 87 tbird turbo 2.3l lol just lettin ya know. hows the install goin?

Since your not working and the turbo project is on hold, I would get your hands on the 2006 June addition of Honda Tuning Magazine, I think its still in stores. Anyway it has at tech article called Turbo Sizing and its always good to learn more about turbos. It explanes the fundamentals of turbos and matching them correctly to small displacement 4 banger. I think its worth looking at.
