Intake Gasket?

I am building a LS/VTEC with a B16A head, just wondering what kind of intake manifold gaskets people are using. Should I get an aftermarket or just go to the dealer and buy an OEM gasket. Does it make a huge difference if you install a Hondata gasket? Thanks, Skwert

If going with an aftermarket gasket, I would rather have a real phenolic spacer other than a regular piece of heat resistent plastic. You can also search online and make your own. A sheet of the stuff is like $15. However I don't know how easy it is to work with.

I forgot to add that this will be a turbocharged car. Will it make a difference being a higher temp. going into the manifold already? Thanks, Skwert

Personally, I would do it. Yes, you are pushing in hot air, but the air is probably cooler than the head is. The purpose of the gasket is to prevent heak soak from the head to the intake manifold. Would be a shame to heat up the air that you just cooled down with the intercooler. I'll move this to the turbo forum as you may get more 1st hand input there.

If you need to get the gasket, you might as well go with the Hondata. It's proven to drop the temp. I need one for my H22 before I put on the turbo and I will be getting the Hondata too. But it's only because I have a leak.

well im not sayin quote me on that. but if u read the discription on it it says it wil increase HP by 7-9% so if u have about 130hp already and throw that on its about anouther 7-10hp and for 60bucks and its from hondata how can u go wrong!

put it this way the only reason i would buy it is so i dont have to replace them anymore.
you wont get any power you can feel from it. everyone says their products give you x amount of power. how many of you actually feel the power. Shit someone told me they made 7whp from swapping to Denso Irid plugs. . . . riiiiiiight

Yeah, but obviously when you are runing FI you want everything that you can get to make the air in you manifold cooler. Because the more dense the air is, the more power you can make. And It's proven to drop the temps., plus it's reuseable.

get the hondata gasket. 60 bucks isnt really a lot of money. i can tell your first hand for a fact that it keeps the intake manifold cooler than the head right next to it, because i have one, and its re-useable
