Intercooler....that much difference?

Ok, I just took my Intercooler off to clean it and I put in the piping to run the turbo without the intercooler. I went for a test drive to see what difference it makes and guess what, damn car lags now. Feels hella slow now. Does the intercooler make that much of a difference?? Outside temps are 70-75degrees (night time), I thought it would slow your car if you were running in 90degree weather. I dunno, anyone who has run their car with and without an intercooler, does your car lag big time (I mean can you really feel a big power loss?) compared to having the intercooler?? Just want to see if everyones' turbo is the same and nothing is wrong with mine.

The intercooler is there to cool the incoming air into the throttle body and intake manifold. The turbo spools hot air which can cause detonation if the boost pressure is too high. The intercooler then cools this air so you can run higher boost or the more horsepower for the same boost since the air is denser (cooler). As far as lag, it shouldn't have much to do with it. If anything, it should be more with the intercooler than without it.

ohh,,,, i didn't mean turbo lag, turbo spools fast. i meant it lost a lot of power. Doesn't put me in my seat anymore. Does it make your car lose a hella lot of power w/o the intercooler?

yea intercooler makes hp i would run a turbo without one unlike my friend with a 98 neon r/t with a custom kit no bov nad intercooler boosts 10+ psi all day lol im very surprised it is still running.. ive felt the air blowing out of a turbo then through the intercooler and wow what a difference the intercooler air was ice cold and it wasnt moving just reving in the driveway.

lol cool, i gotta try that. I've felt the air coming out of just the turbo and its not that hot. Now I'll try to feel the air coming out of the intercooler. Hopefully its ice cold hehe
